Day 11&12 Off to Ometepe island

We took a bus and taxi to get to the ferry over to the island of Ometepe. Once on the island, we found an internet store and then a delicious breakfast!!! They put together an incredible plate of tropical fruit and the coffee was delicious! Mike was happy to find cereal and milk!
I am loving the tropical flowers! Once we found out where we were heading, we took 2 local buses (about 2 hours in total) and arrived at the farm (finca) that we had reservations at. The picture of the swimmers( Jennie talking to 2 Americans) is a 10 minute walk from the farm. We are in Lake Nicaragua. This is the only freshwater lake with sharks in it. We didn´t see any sharks!!!

We walked up the path at the farm, which led us into the forest. We had no idea what to expect. So we were overwhelmed with the beautiful lodging that we got. The view of the volcano was breathtaking and the decor was so artistic! Christiano(Italian) and Sheri(Canadian) were incredible hosts. We chose to eat dinner and breakfast with them, and all of the delicious food was grown on their farm. The other couple eating dinner with us were newly weds from Victoria, Canada.
We only had time to stay for 1 night. We will definitely return to Ometepe. We loved it!!!

This rock has ancient petroglyphs carved in it. There are rocks with carvings like this all over the island.
