Heading back to Nicaragua on July 25th, 2010

Leaving in less than a week. Exciting! We're looking forward to reconnecting with Nicaraguan friends that we made last time we were there. Time to start packing!

So how did I get to Nicaragua?

Christmas '06 we went to Mexico and I loved meeting the locals, but didn't have Spanish. So, I came home and signed up for a Spanish class. I also decided that I wanted to volunteer in my community and went online to find an opportunity. Now, I'm not very good on computers, so when the search brought up "Learn Spanish and Volunteer" I immediately clicked on it and ended up on a web site for a language school in Nicaragua. I excitedly told my family about the program and signed up, with their blessing.

Plans for Nicaragua

In 2007, I will be living in Granada, Nicaragua, a beautiful colonial city. I will live with a Nicaraguan family, attend Casa Xalteva Spanish School in the mornings, volunteer in the community in the afternoons, and tour the country on weekends.
I intend to "live" in Spanish as much as possible. I have bought a Spanish / English bible and hope to find a local church.
I will visit internet cafes regularly to update my news.
In 2010, I am traveling for 4 weeks with my husband. We will spend 2 weeks in Nicaragua, 1 week in Costa Rica and 1 week in Panama.
